Molecular analysis

About 130 offspring are used to create a genetic map. Currently the map contains more than 150 dominant markers. The map is presently being extended with SNP markers. SNP markers were obtained by high throughput sequencing of cDNAs of both parents.

Currently we have discovered about 400 SNP's and this expected to be extended to well over 1000 SNP in the near future. Part of these SNP's will be used to extend the genetic map further.
